Annual Report: 2024/25

English Language Support Program

Due to declining enrollment since 2020, the Intensive English Program closed May 31, 2025, and the Center for English Language Learning was reorganized.

The English Language Support Program continues to serve the University of Missouri by assessing the English proficiency of Mizzou’s undergraduate international students and providing English language courses for undergraduate and graduate international students to help them be successful in their academic studies. ELSP courses are offered in reading, writing and oral communication.

In spring 2025, the previous grammar section of the English Language Exam (the Test of English Language Proficiency — Structure) was discontinued and replaced by the New English Language Exam Structure test. It was written by ELSP faculty after an extensive needs analysis to more closely match the grammar students will encounter in classes and the objectives taught in ELSP 3100 and 3150. Before adoption, the new exam was tested to equate it with the former exam.

During 2024/25, 27 students from 17 countries made up 34 enrollments.
