Message regarding April 22 Presidential Proclamation

April 24, 2020

On April 22, President Trump announced a new Presidential Proclamation suspending for 60 days the entry of individuals seeking to make their initial entry to the U.S. as an immigrant (green card holder). This proclamation is limited in scope and should not affect MU employment-based permanent resident (green card) applications.

Additionally, nothing in the proclamation affects student and temporary worker visa categories. However, the proclamation also directed several government agencies to review nonimmigrant programs within the next 30 days. While we do not anticipate an adverse effect on student and temporary worker categories, ISSS staff will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly.

For a more detailed summary of the proclamation, refer to the NAFSA: Association of International Educators website.
