MU faculty: Teach abroad in South Korea this summer

MU faculty are invited to teach a four-week course as part of the Chonnam National University International Summer Session in Gwangju, South Korea. This is a great opportunity to expand your teaching experience and network with faculty at one of MU’s partner institutions in South Korea. CNU is a legacy partner of MU since 1978.

Program details:

  • Teaching period: June 23–July 20
  • Teaching hours: 45 hours (three hours a day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
  • Language of instruction: English
  • Class: Mixture of Korean and international students, 10–40
  • Course topic: General courses are preferable to attract more students
  • Qualifications: Doctoral degree with three years full-time teaching experience
  • Financial support
    • Honorarium: $3,000 USD
    • Accommodation support: Guest house on campus or 1,000,000 KRW stipend
    • Airfare support: $2,000 USD for those outside of Asia

Interested faculty must be nominated by MU. To apply for nomination, submit your CV and proposed course topic and description to Sang Kim (kimsan@missouri.edu) by Monday, Nov. 28.

General timeline:

  • Nov. 30: Faculty nomination deadline for partner institutions
  • Dec. 7: Individual faculty application deadline
  • Jan. 31: Course list compiled
  • Feb. 6–March 31: Student application period
  • April 19: Final screening based on number of students registered (minimum of 10 students per course)
  • April 26: Official invitation letters sent to faculty
