There are two separate payments required for each passport application:
- Passport application fee
- Must be paid with check or money order made payable to “U.S. Department of State.”
- Temporary or starter checks are not accepted by the State Department.
- Execution fee
- Covers the cost of executing the passport application.
- Can be paid with credit card, debit card or electronic check.
- Cards accepted: American Express, BC Card, ChinaUnionPay, DinaCard, Diners Club International, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, Visa.
- Electronic check (ACH) payments require a bank routing number and account number. Payments can be made from a personal checking or savings account. No corporate checks allowed (e.g., credit cards, home equity, traveler’s checks, etc.).

The International Center does not accept applications for renewals for those age 16 and over. Those renewal applicants residing in the U.S. may apply by mail.
