University of Missouri signs agreement with El-Yurt Umidi Foundation

Feb. 16, 2022

MU International Programs was pleased to host representatives from our newest international partner, El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. Administered by the government of Uzbekistan, the foundation provides competitive scholarships for Uzbek students to study in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs abroad. Javokhir Akhmedov, deputy director, and Albina Abdullaeva, chief specialist of the international cooperation department, toured Mizzou’s campus and met with stakeholders from across the university.

The highlight of the afternoon was the signing ceremony for the new international memorandum of understanding between the University of Missouri and El-Yurt Umidi Foundation. This new agreement formalizes MU’s partnership with the foundation, which supports the participation of EYUF scholarship recipients in undergraduate, graduate and non-degree programs at Mizzou.

“Through this partnership, we look forward to welcoming more Uzbek students to Mizzou and offering training programs for their most promising community leaders,” said Mary Stegmaier, MU vice provost for International Programs. “We are also excited about strengthening connections to researchers and universities in the region.”
