The English Language Support Program is pleased to announce that the English language exam required for all new, degree-seeking undergraduate international students will now be taken online before students arrive on campus. The new ELSP placement exam replaces the in-person exam previously offered the week before each semester began. Our new process standardizes English language assessment by using the nationally-recognized College Board ACCUPLACER ESL and WritePlacer ESL tests, and will allow for smoother course enrollment with fewer delays due to ELE holds.

Students who are required to take the ELSP placement exam will receive instructions on how to register directly from the English Language Support Program. Fall 2026 students are encouraged to complete the online tests by July 15.
