Study abroad this summer on the Policies and Institutions of the European Union program! Spend two weeks in May exploring Belgium and the Netherlands — the heart of the European Union and home to its most influential institutions. This program examines how the European Union is structured, the important role the EU plays in global economic and political affairs, and how policy decisions are made and implemented in this supranational governing body. Required for all faculty, staff and program assistants who have leadership roles for Mizzou study abroad programs or university-related international activities. All faculty, staff and program assistants who lead programs abroad are required to attend this workshop every other year to receive updated information.

 

The workshop will assist program leaders and assistants in understanding their roles and responsibilities, along with the resources and support available through International Programs and the university. Presenters include the UM System Office of General Counsel and Office of Risk and Insurance Management and the MU Office of International Health, Safety and Security. The workshop covers:

  • Best practices to support student health, safety and security
  • Individual and institutional liability concerns
  • Risk management and insurance coverage
  • Student conduct issues
  • Emergency response
